Things You Should Store In A Bomb Shelter In Case Hell Will Break Lose Tomorrow

June 18, 2008 By: Reneena Category: events and holidays 1 Comment →

It is a fact that sooner or later the world will come to an end. No one really knows the exact time. It might be a huge nuclear eruption, a power earthquake or perhaps an unexpected war. Some people are already building a safety place, like a bomb shelter or a panic room. Just so in case you are really paranoid of the idea, here’s a list what you should store:

1. Lamps, flashlights and batteries – you have to expect that the power will be dead.

2. Blankets – you don’t need a pillow to go with them, but buy those ones that will really keep the warm.

3. Bottled water – store as much as you can. You can last a month without any food, but thirst can weaken you even for a day.

4. Canned foods – put Spam on the top of the list. It has been the number one food throughout wars.

5. Sugar and honey – sweet stuff but they last a lifetime. Just make sure that you store them away from moisture.

6. Clothes and towels – make sure they are plain and cotton. These include shirts, pants, jackets and underwear.

7. Candies and gums – little things that will help food supply last longer.

8. A transistor radio – it will keep you updated on what’s happening outside the shelter. Since there’s no power, TV and the Internet are useless.

9. Clock and a calendar – it will keep you up with time.

10. A journal and pens – who knows if you will survive or not, but you can tell the world about the whole picture after the tragedy.

How To Plan Your Fourth Of July Vacation The Celebrity Way

June 05, 2008 By: Reneena Category: events and holidays No Comments →

I don’t really think that there is such thing as a celebrity style fourth of July celebration. Of course, except for the grand pyrotechnic display that most celebrities can afford. Although it is about the spirit of independence, 4th of July is also a high time to organize a little if not a big party for friends and families. But this time, I suggest that you have to out-celebrate the event. Like go beyond what is expected out of a picnic. Make it extra special for everybody:

Don’t serve the same food. Forget about last year’s party menu, or what is called the traditional independence food. A barbecue is still good but definitely change everything and be creative. And also, don’t try to serve what’s your next door neighbor is serving for their 4th of July party.

Costumes are good. I’m not suggesting to be an early Halloween party, but ask guests to dress up. For instance, make them wear a long hat just like Abe Lincoln’s, or perhaps wigs. Or, hire someone to paint the faces of kids.

Don’t forget the flag. This is the one 4th of July accessory that should not be absent. However this time, don’t let it just be a simple flag. Explore the possibilities of changing it into something else, like make flag cookies.

I know it is still early to plan the party. But if it’s going to be a big celebration, start planning now on the event, especially your guest list. I think 4th of July should be like Christmas. It may not be entirely about love, but it is indeed about freedom.
